How the kit works
VEFpressKit builds a press kit in two parts: a PDF and, when your hosting allows it, a zip.
The PDF is the document journalists read: your text and your photos laid out on A4 pages. The photos in the PDF are there to illustrate it, so they are sized to fit the page.
The zip is the press pack: it contains the PDF plus the original, full-resolution files in folders (photos, documents, audio). Journalists take their pictures from there.
The stable download link gives the zip when it is available, and the PDF otherwise. Paste it in your own button or link.
To get a photo in the zip, add it in a Photos section (or in a Photos column of a Two columns section). An image inserted inside a Text section only appears in the PDF.
Section types
Text — rich text (bold, italic, lists, links, alignment). You can also insert a single image on its own line inside the text, using the « Add Media » button above the editor. This image appears in the PDF only; it is not added to the zip.
Photos — shown in the PDF as a gallery that illustrates the kit. The original full-resolution files are added to the zip, in a « photos » folder.
Documents / Audio — these files cannot be played or displayed inside a PDF, so they are listed by name and the real files are added to the zip, in a « documents » or « audio » folder.
Two columns — each column can be a different type of content, chosen independently. A photo fills the width of its column, and the two column titles always stay on the same page as the top of their columns. A column that is longer than the page continues on the next page.
Support access
Need hands-on help? Open a temporary support access from the « Diagnostic and support » tab: the support team receives a single-use sign-in link and gets a temporary account that ends on the date you choose.
The account can use the VEFpressKit screens and the diagnostic and talk with you, but it cannot manage users, install, update or edit code, change the site address or the administrator email, change or read back license keys, or export personal data. You can close the access at any time.
